Business Support Assistant (Part Time) - Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council - Antrim 
 
Join Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council as a Business Support Assistant and play an important role in supporting Waste Management, Fleet, Waste Operations and Sustainability services. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and customer-focused individual seeking a flexible part-time position within the public sector.
 
Key Details: 
  • £15.31 per hour
  • Antrim Civic Centre
  • Part Time - Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9 am to 5 pm  (22 hrs per week)

About the role:
  • To provide a comprehensive customer care and administrative service as part of the Business Support Team including Waste Management, Fleet, Waste Operations and Sustainability.
  • Provide a high level of internal and external customer service including taking ownership of customer queries and following issues through to completion.
  • Demonstrate a team approach to achieving the objectives of the Waste Management Department through full flexibility in relation to tasks undertaken and demonstrate the ability to carry out multiple tasks at one time.
  • Assume the primary point of contact for all waste enquiries and complaints from the general public through the call hub which would include:
    Answering queries, reporting issues and taking payments
    Adding new customers to internal systems
    Assisting customers with bulky collection requests
Criteria:
  • Minimum 5 GCSE’s (Grades A-C) to include English Language and Maths or equivalent. Consideration may be given to those candidates who do not hold the above academic qualification but who can demonstrate a minimum of 4 year’s relevant experience or clerical experience including minute taking.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ administrative or clerical experience including minute taking.
  • Experience in a customer service role to include direct customer contact (by phone and in person) and responsibility for dealing with customer complaints and queries
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Effective organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work to a high standard with minimum supervision
  • High degree of discretion and confidentiality 
  • Full current driving licence or, if a disability prevents driving, access to a suitable form of transport to enable the duties of the post to be carried out in full.  Available to work outside normal working hours, when required.
