Estimator (Building Products) - Full Time  |  Cookstown 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator to join a growing building products manufacturing business in Cookstown.

About the Role: 

Working closely with customers, production teams, engineering departments, and suppliers, the Estimator will play a key role in evaluating project requirements, analysing costs, and delivering quotations within agreed timescales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and quotations for building products based on customer specifications, drawings, and project requirements.
  • Analyse material requirements, labour costs, manufacturing processes, and production times to ensure accurate pricing.
  • Review technical drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and tender documents.
  • Liaise with customers to clarify project requirements and specifications.
  • Work closely with engineering, production, and purchasing teams to obtain accurate costing information.
  • Source and evaluate supplier quotations for raw materials, components, and subcontracted services.
  • Maintain and update costing databases, price lists, and estimating documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance estimating accuracy and efficiency.
  • Assist with contract reviews and project handovers to production teams.
  • Monitor market trends, material costs, and supplier pricing to ensure competitive quotations.
  • Prepare reports and provide commercial support to management when required.
  • Ensure all quotations are issued within agreed timescales while meeting company quality standards.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Undertake any other duties as reasonably required by management.

Criteria: 

  • Previous experience in an Estimator, Costing, Manufacturing, Engineering, or Technical role.
  • Experience within the building products, construction, manufacturing, or engineering sector.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple quotations and deadlines.
