Assistant Accountant - Full Time | Ballymena

- Location: Ballymena Area
- Salary: £35,000 - £37,000 per annum
- Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 17:00 (40 hours per week)
- Flexible Working: Flexi-time system allowing hours to be worked between 7:00am and 6:00pm
The Opportunity
Riada are recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to join a successful and growing manufacturing business based in the Ballymena area. This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified accountant looking to further develop their career within a fast-paced commercial environment.
Working closely with the Finance Manager and wider finance team, you will support the delivery of accurate financial reporting, month-end processes, and financial analysis while contributing to the continued success of the business. This role would suit an individual who has already gained strong accounting experience and can work proactively with minimal supervision while continuing their professional studies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Prepare and post journals, accruals and prepayments.
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Reconcile bank accounts and maintain cash flow records.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Monitor and reconcile sales and purchase ledger transactions.
- Assist with VAT returns and statutory reporting requirements.
- Produce financial reports and analysis to support business performance.
- Support external audits and provide required documentation.
- Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with company procedures.
- Liaise with colleagues across departments to resolve financial queries and improve processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function.
Essential Criteria:
- Qualified Accounting Technician (ATI), Part-qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA or qualified by experience.
- Strong knowledge of management accounting principles.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience working with accounting or ERP systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
