Accounting Technician - Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service - Lisburn
 
Join Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service and help support the effective administration of pension and payroll data. Working within the Management and Pensions Team, you will be responsible for producing accurate and timely information for the HSC Pension Service, contributing to the successful implementation of the McCloud and Matthews Remedy Exercise programmes.
 
About the role:
  • £19.72 per hour
  • Lisburn HQ
  • Monday to Friday
  • Hours of Work: 36.25 hours a week with hybrid working dependent on business needs
  • Duration: Up to 6 months with possible extension

What you'll be doing in this role:
  • Support the Management Accountant in the provision of an efficient and effective service.
  • Support the Management Accountant to formulate financial forecasts and plans to enable service delivery.
  • Support the Management Accountant the development and provision of the annual revenue and capital budgets and subsequent production of budgetary and outturn forecasts and issue of periodic reports.
  • This includes monthly management accounts and monitoring returns for the Board, Corporate Management Team and the sponsoring body.
  • Support the Management Accountant in the preparation of financial returns to the Department of Health, for example, Monitoring Round returns, Scenario Planning exercises, Capital plans and returns, etc.
  • Support the Management Accountant in the production of the statutory annual accounts including the provision of information and carrying out various end-of-year tasks. 
 
What you'll need for this role:
  • Possess 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics.
  • Have a minimum of two years’ experience working in a Finance environment with pensions experience in a medium to large organisation, to include :
  • (a) Preparing journals and completing month-end reconciliations.
  • (b) Working with a computerised accounts package
  • (c) Using advanced excel skills to capture and analyse data for information and reporting purposes.
AND 
  •  Deliver high quality work with excellent attention to detail
  •  The ability to work individually or as a team member
  • Effective communication and the ability to provide timely and accurate information;
  • A strong customer service orientation.
  • Competence in the use of Windows and other Microsoft applications and accounting software systems
