About the Role

We are seeking a caring, motivated Health Support Worker to join a dedicated Health & Wellbeing Team supporting parents and children during pregnancy and the early years (0–3). This is a hands-on, relationship‑focused role that champions the principles of the First 1001 Days, promotes positive early relationships, and contributes to Baby Friendly accredited practice.

You’ll help deliver antenatal and postnatal programmes, facilitate group activities, support infant wellbeing, and carry out home visits. If you’re creative, people‑centred, and passionate about early years development, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference every day.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote local early‑years services by developing creative approaches to increase parental engagement, particularly within antenatal and postnatal support.
  • Facilitate groups and workshops by planning and delivering antenatal classes, early postnatal groups, infant feeding support, wellbeing workshops, and activities for dads or male caregivers.
  • Prepare resources by organising and evaluating antenatal, postnatal, and health‑promotion materials.
  • Carry out home visiting by conducting supportive home visits to register families and provide guidance on pregnancy, early parenting, infant wellbeing, and parent–infant attachment.
  • Build relationships by encouraging ongoing parental involvement through trust, empathy, and consistent support.
  • Assess family needs by reviewing emerging needs and communicating them promptly to the Programme Manager.
  • Maintain accurate records by producing clear, concise documentation to meet agreed targets.
  • Refer families by connecting families with appropriate voluntary or statutory services.
  • Contribute to reporting by supporting evaluation processes and contributing to organisational reports.
  • Ensure safeguarding by following Child Protection Procedures and maintaining absolute confidentiality.
Criteria :
  • NVQ Level II in Child Care Learning & Development, Health & Social Care, or equivalent.
  • GCSE English & Maths (Grades A–C) or Level 2 Literacy & Numeracy.
  • Minimum two years’ experience working with children under four and/or families.
  • Strong written and spoken communication.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office packages.
  • Access to transport to fulfil all duties.
If this sounds like the next step in your career, we’d love to hear from you! Even if you don’t meet every listed requirement, we encourage you to apply – we may have other suitable roles for you.  Apply online, email [email protected] or call Tina on 028 7032 6600 to find out more.
