Pharmacy Assistant - Antrim Area Hospital
A great opportunity for a Pharmacy Assistant (Band 2) to join the team at Antrim Area Hospital. Working under the supervision of Senior Assistants, Technicians, and Pharmacists, this role supports the efficient and accurate supply of drugs, medical items, and surgical supplies to meet the needs of patients and clinical staff.

- £12.71 per hour
- Antrim Area Hospital
- Up to 37.5 hours / week across a 7 day week to include working shifts, evenings, weekends, and public holidays
- Immediate start date for up to 6 months initially

What you'll be doing in this role:
- To receive, check and shelve all pharmacy items in accordance with departmental SOPs.
- To ensure that all delivery documentation is accurately receipted onto the EPIC system.
- To participate in the provision of a Bulk Issue “top-up” service to wards and departments, including preparation of the regular orders, removal of overstock and appropriate stock rotation / expiry day management, highlighting queries / changes in usage trends to designated technicians / pharmacists as appropriate.
- To assemble and issue daily ward orders, requisitions and Bulk Issue lists received via the EPIC pharmacy computer system for distribution to wards and other users, keeping appropriate records and communicating with nursing and clinical pharmacy staff as appropriate.
- To assemble and supply IV fluids and procedure pack orders, issuing stock to users via the computer system, keeping appropriate records as appropriate.
- To perform any other duties as assigned.
What you'll need for this role:
- 5 GCSEs to include English and Maths Grade C or above (or equivalent)
- OR NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services OR BTEC level 2 Certificate in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Support Staff or equivalent qualification
- Effective communication skills
- Basic numeracy skills
- Computer literacy
- Organisational ability
- The successful candidate may be required to undertake Pearson Level 2 Certificate in The Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Support Staff by attendance at South Eastern Regional College on a day per month
- As part of the reference checking and vetting process for this position you will be requested to undertake a Standard AccessNI Disclosure. Having a criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a position
