Design Engineer (CAD) - L/Derry - Permanent
We are seeking a highly skilled CAD Design Engineer to join the growing production engineering team of this local and specialised sign manufacturer. As CAD Engineer, you will work between the design team and the manufacturing team to facilitate the design, refinement, and fabrication of a wide range of signage products.

What you'll be doing in this role:
- Create production drawings to a high standard for their in-house manufacturing facility.
- Design frameworks and panelling for a variety of large and small signage.
- Maintain relevant documentation for projects including design files, assembly drawings, BOMs etc.
- Work closely with the design and manufacturing teams to suggest workflow improvements.
- Develop detailed designs and technical drawings for signage projects using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
- Collaborate with the design team and project managers to understand project requirements and translate concepts into actionable plans.
- Ensure designs meet industry standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements
- Conduct design reviews to identify potential issues and recommend improvements.
- Provide technical support and expertise during the manufacturing and installation phases.
- Assist in the development of prototypes and samples for client approval.
- Maintain documentation and records of design revisions, project progress, and specifications.
What you'll need for this role:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a CAD Design Engineer, preferably in the signage, engineering or manufacturing industry.
- Good knowledge of Adobe CS products.
- Experience with AutoCAD a bonus but not essential.
- Strong knowledge of basic manufacturing processes and material properties.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.) and other relevant design tools. Solidworks proficiency essential.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and fabrication techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients.
