Join Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council as a Waste Management Chargehand in Antrim and play a key role in supporting essential environmental and waste services within the local community.
About the role:
- £16.90 - £19.52 with shift allowance
- O'Neill Road, Newtownabbey
- 37 hours per week (including weekends)
- 3 months pending review

What you'll be doing in this role:
- Responsible to the Waste & Resource Management Supervisors for the day-to-day supervision of the Council’s Household Recycling Centres. To ensure the services are carried out in accordance with the Quality Standards set by the Council.
- Assist the Waste & Resource Management Supervisors to manage human, physical, and financial resources to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness. Provide leadership, monitoring of performance, continuous service improvement and quality of service delivery in compliance with current legislation and regulations.
What you'll need for this role:
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grades A-C) to include English and Maths or equivalent
- Consideration may be given to those candidates who do not hold the above academic qualifications but who can demonstrate a minimum of 2 years' experience as below
- A minimum of 1 years' relevant supervisory experience e.g refuse collection, street cleansing. household recycling centre
- Strong organisation and time management skills
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Working knowledge of Health & Safety Regulations, including manual handling
- Working Office and Windows applications
- A full current driving licence or, if a disability prevents driving, access to a suitable form of transport to enable the duties of the post to be carried out in full.
