Mechanic - Derry City & Strabane District Council - Strabane
Join Derry City & Strabane District Council in Strabane as a Mechanic, supporting the maintenance and repair of essential council vehicles and equipment.
About the role:
- £16.89 per hour
- Monday to Friday
- 37 hours a week
- Public sector
- Temporary role
What you'll be doing in this role:
- Carrying out maintenance and repair of petrol and diesel vehicles
- Preparing vehicles for annual Vehicle Certificate Inspections
- Diagnosing and repairing faults across hydraulic, electric and pneumatic systems
- Ensuring vehicles meet roadworthiness and safety standards in line with Operator’s Licence requirements
- Completing relevant documentation accurately and efficiently
- Working within a commercial workshop environment to agreed safety and quality standards
What you'll need for this role:
- NVQ Level 2 in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (Light or Heavy Goods Vehicle) or equivalent,
- OR completed certified training in HGV vehicle safety and roadworthiness inspection techniques
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in vehicle repair within a commercial workshop
- Experience preparing vehicles for inspections and carrying out engine repairs
- A Category C driving licence is desirable but not essential
