Braid Duty Manager - Mid & East Antrim Borough Council - The Braid, Ballymena
 
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Mid & East Antrim Borough Council as a Braid Duty Manager based at The Braid Arts Centre. This role will oversee the day-to-day operation of the venue, ensuring a high-quality visitor experience, safe operations, and the effective delivery of events, exhibitions and services within this flagship cultural facility.
 
About the role:
  • £18.85 per hour
  • 37 hours a week
  • Based in The Braid, Ballymena
  • Temporary role up to 6 months pending review

What you'll be doing in this role:
  • Successfully manage the delivery of theatre performances.  This will include managing a team of Ushers, liaising with external theatre promoters and producers and ensuring the optimum delivery of each event to maximise customer satisfaction and income generation.  
  • Responsible for the operation of the theatre bar, including managing staff, stock and service, and working with the Braid Senior Duty Manager to maximise sales and profitability at all times.
  • Work with relevant Council Officers to ensure that box office services are available and effective and that the theatre’s ticketing system is up-to-date with relevant shows, pricing and discounts, undertaking any administrative set-up or operation of the system as required.
  • Liaise effectively with Council’s Tourism Management function to ensure that The Braid Visitor Information Centre (VIC) is operational when required, and provide a warm, welcoming and efficient service to all visitors.  
  • Ensure the appropriate and timely set-up of all room booking requirements. 
  • Assist the Senior Braid Duty Manager with the financial settlement process for theatre events and room bookings, liaising with internal and external stakeholders as required.  
What you'll need for this role:
  •  Applicants must have a minimum of a third level qualification in a relevant arts, humanities or events related discipline.
  • Be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have at least two years’ operational experience 
  • Experience of assisting delivery of arts, museums or heritage services in a best practice manner to deliver positive outcomes for the organisation
  •  Comprehensive knowledge of health & safety and the implementation of risk assessments and safe working practices 
  • A full current driving licence valid in the UK and access to a vehicle OR have access to a form of transport that enables you to carry out the duties of the post
  •  Willingness and ability to respond to emergency call-outs for the building, including at unsociable times, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
