Site Engineer - Ballymena Area
The Site Engineer will be responsible for carrying out snagging, inspection, and rectification works on fabricated and erected steel structures to ensure full compliance with project specifications, engineering drawings, and quality standards. The role involves identifying and correcting defects in welds, coatings, bolt connections, alignment, and general workmanship prior to client handover or final inspection.
About the role:
- £17.00 per hour
- Monday to Friday
- 38 hours a week
- Permanent role
What you’ll be doing in this role:
- Inspect fabricated and installed steelwork for defects, deviations, or incomplete works in line with approved drawings and quality control documentation.
- Carry out remedial works including bolt tightening, re-torquing, alignment correction, weld touch-ups (if coded), grinding, and minor fabrication repairs.
- Identify and document snag items in coordination with the Quality Engineer, Site Manager, or Project Engineer.
- Ensure snag lists are actioned efficiently and closed out in line with internal QA/QC procedures.
- Liaise with fabrication teams, erectors, welders, and coatings personnel to resolve quality or dimensional issues.
- Check and verify site tolerances, levels, and fit-ups using appropriate tools (e.g., levels, laser equipment, measuring tapes, torque wrenches).
- Assist in completing handover documentation and quality packs, ensuring all non-conformances are rectified prior to sign-off.
- Maintain a strong safety culture, adhering to site method statements, risk assessments, and PPE requirements.
- Provide feedback to site and project engineers on recurring quality or fabrication issues to support continuous improvement.
What you'll need for this role:
- Previous experience in structural steel erection, fabrication, or QA/QC inspection within the engineering or construction sector.
