Economic Development Manager- Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council

About the role:
  • £25.79 per hour
  •  Monday to Friday
  • 37 hours per week 
  • Mossley Mill 
  • Up to 6 months (possibility of extension)

Your focus:
  • Support Heads of Service in planning, developing and delivering a wide range of economic development, investment and regeneration initiatives.
  • Contribute to the delivery of Council’s economic growth goals aligned with Community Planning objectives.
  • Act as a key member of the economic development team delivering against Council policies and priorities.
  • Lead programmes focused on entrepreneurship, job creation, skills and employability, and town and village regeneration.
  • Manage infrastructure and technology improvement projects supporting local economic development.
  • Attract new investment and create employment opportunities across the borough.
  • Lead the development and submission of funding bids including Shared Prosperity and Levelling Up Funds.
  • Ensure initiatives support community priorities such as prosperity, opportunity, and vibrant local places.  
What you'll need for this role:
  • A degree in Business, Management, Economics, Town Planning, Planning, Urban Development, Finance, Regeneration or any other relevant qualification.
  • OR consideration may be given to those candidates who do not hold the above academic qualifications but who can demonstrate a minimum of four years relevant experience as outlined below
  • At least 2 years’ experience in an economic role to include all the following:
  • Managing staff, contracts and budget for the achievement of economic development, investment or regeneration projects
  • Managing programmes including the implementation, review and monitoring of largescale economic development initiatives. 
  • Developing strategy and implementing policy in a team working context.
  • Experience of building strong and positive relationships with the business community and working with business organisations
  • A full current driving licence valid in the UK and access to a vehicle OR have access to a form of transport that enables you to carry out the duties of the post
