About the role:
- £18.72 per hour
- Based in Belfast
- Monday to Friday
- 37 hours per week
- Holidays: 35 days pro rata
- Duration: Temporary, ongoing
- Closing Date: 3rd April 2025.
You will be reporting to the Building Services Manager for ensuring the NIHE is fully compliant with its statutory and regulatory duties to its customers, employees, and third parties and to assist in the management and co-ordination of the planned and cyclical servicing and maintenance programme for the specialist mechanical and electrical equipment in NIHE Offices, Depots, High Rise Residential Blocks and Hostels.
What you'll be doing in this role:
- To contribute to all aspects of the Building Services Function of the Building Safety Department, to ensure NIHE’s compliance with its statutory and legislative Health and Safety obligations.
- To assist in the development and implementation of strategies, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations particularly in relation to Heating Systems, Electrical Safety, Carbon Monoxide and Smoke Detector and Lifting Equipment (including servicing and LOLER)across the NIHE stock portfolio.
- To work in collaboration with other Departments, Regional Teams, contractors and external agencies to monitor operational delivery of Landlord Compliance to ensure there is a consistent approach.
- To provide assurance reports to senior management on the testing, inspection, maintenance and certification associated with all compliance areas mentioned above
- To make recommendations to management based on professional judgement and experience where significant risks are identified or situations where immediate action is required to prevent danger to life, serious injury, damage to property, or prosecution
- To produce and issue appropriate Corrective Action Plans and review implementation of these plans.
- To utilise Asset Management Electronic Registers to manage and maintain key compliance information.
- To assist in the design, development and delivery of training for NIHE staff in respect of NIHE statutory and regulatory obligations.
What you'll need for this role:
- A degree or equivalent (level 6*) qualification in a relevant technical qualification, relevant to any of the compliance areas managed by this role PLUS a minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience
- OR BTEC Higher Certificate/Diploma in a relevant technical qualification or equivalent qualification relevant to any of the compliance areas managed by this role PLUS a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience
- Candidates who do not possess the qualifications above but can demonstrate equivalent continuing professional development and experiential learning in any of the compliance areas managed by this role PLUS a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience
- Candidates must demonstrate significant experience in ONE of the following areas:(a) Experience and competency in current gas safety regulations, procedures and CP12 requirements OR(b) Experience and competency in current Electricity at Work Regulations, the requirements for Fixed Electrical testing and Portable Appliance testing regimes
- Candidates must demonstrate significant experience in all of the following areas:(a) Experience in managing contractors on multiple sites(b) Experience in managing contracts in adherence to the specification
- Possess a full current UK driving licence or have access to a form of transport
