About the role:
- Mossley Mill (there may be a requirement to work from any Council site or facility within the Borough)
- 6 months (initially, possibility of extension)
- £18.26 per hour
- 37 hours per week
- Public Sector

The post holder will be responsible for implementing a wide range of economic development programmes which contribute to the development of the local economy, in line with the Council’s Corporate and Economic Development objectives, regional strategies and sub-regional approaches such as Belfast Region City Deal.
Duties will include:
- Support Business Development Officers in the delivery of a range of economic development Programmes, such as business mentoring, labour market initiatives, business networking and small business grants.
- Provide advice and guidance to residents, businesses, schools, tourism and training providers on Economic Development related services and programmes as required.
- Provide economic advice and guidance, to individuals, local businesses, those interested in starting a business, social enterprises, investors and tourism providers.
- Client site visits to meet business needs and to meet the requirements of Council support programmes.
- Plan and implement a comprehensive programme of economic development activities, including organising events and participating in exhibitions in support of the Council's Economic Development and Regeneration Strategies.
- Assist the Council to secure and drawdown external funding by undertaking research and collating information and documentation required for funding applications.
- Provide advice and guidance to support project promoters and delivery agents in complying with the terms and conditions of their letters of offer, including appropriate procurement and eligibility requirements and the claim drawdown process.
What you'll need for this role:
- A relevant third level qualification on the UK Qualification and Credit framework at level 4 and above e.g. Business related discipline
OR 3 years’ recent experience as below:
- Possess a minimum of 1 year's recent experience in a wide range of economic development activities in one or more of the following disciplines:
- Economic Development
- Rural Development
- Community Development
In addition:
- Good planning and organising skills
- Good administrative & financial skills
- Good communication skills (written & verbal)
- Displays a positive a positive attitude including a solution based, flexible and enthusiastic approach
- Maintain a high standard of quality and accuracy
- Full current driving licence or, if a disability prevents driving, access to a suitable form of transport to enable the duties of the post to be carried out in full.
- Available for flexible working including evenings and weekends.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office and Windows Applications
