Riada Resourcing is recruiting on behalf of Northern Regional College for a Cook (Band 3) based at their Ballymena campus.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced cook or chef to join one of Northern Ireland's leading Further Education Colleges. The successful candidate will support the daily operation of the campus canteen, training restaurant and teaching kitchens, helping to deliver high-quality catering services while supporting students in a learning environment.
The Role
Working closely with the Curriculum Area Manager, Catering Technician and Hospitality & Catering Department, you will be responsible for the preparation and service of food and beverages, ensuring all catering areas operate efficiently and to the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and opening of the canteen, training restaurant and teaching kitchens.
- Prepare and cook a variety of fresh food, baked goods, desserts and patisserie items.
- Support the delivery of catering services to staff, students and visitors.
- Ensure all food preparation areas are maintained to the highest hygiene standards.
- Operate catering equipment safely and in accordance with Health & Safety regulations.
- Assist lecturers and students with practical catering activities and demonstrations.
- Support stock control, ordering, storage and rotation of food supplies.
- Liaise with suppliers and assist with inventory management.
- Support catering delivery for special events and curriculum activities.
- Ensure all cleaning, storage and waste disposal procedures are carried out correctly.
Essential Criteria
Applicants must possess:
- Level 2 Professional Cookery/Chef Qualification.
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in a busy catering environment.
- Experience preparing and cooking a wide range of food, including hot and cold dishes, baking, patisserie and desserts.
- Strong understanding of food hygiene, health & safety and food preparation standards.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
