Riada Resourcing is recruiting on behalf of Northern Regional College for a Catering Technician (Band 2) based at their Ballymena campus.
This is an excellent opportunity to join one of Northern Ireland's leading Further Education Colleges, supporting the operation of the campus canteen, training restaurant and teaching kitchens. The successful candidate will work closely with lecturing staff, students and the Catering Technician Supervisor to ensure the efficient delivery of catering services and practical learning activities.
The Role
The Catering Technician will provide technical and catering support across the College's catering and hospitality facilities, helping to deliver a professional, efficient and hygienic service for staff, students and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation and opening of the canteen, training restaurant, training kitchens and teaching areas.
- Support the preparation and service of food and beverages.
- Assist lecturers and students during practical catering activities.
- Operate catering equipment safely and in accordance with health and safety procedures.
- Support food service operations, including serving customers and operating point-of-sale systems.
- Assist with stock control, storage and inventory management.
- Support the daily management of cash handling, floats and lodgements in line with College procedures.
- Assist with the setup and clearance of furniture, equipment and catering facilities.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety.
- Assist with deep cleaning programmes and waste disposal procedures.
- Support exhibitions, displays, special events and curriculum activities.
Essential Criteria
Applicants must have:
- A minimum of 1 year's catering experience, including responsibility for cooking.
- Experience working within a busy catering, hospitality, café, restaurant or food service environment.
- Knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety, and safe working practices.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to work effectively within a customer-focused environment.
- Must be willing to apply for an Enhanced Access NI
