Riada Resourcing is recruiting on behalf of Northern Regional College for an Engineering Technician to support the delivery of practical engineering training within the College's Newtownabbey campus.
This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified engineering professional to join a leading Further Education provider and play a key role in supporting both lecturers and students within a busy workshop environment.
The Role
The successful candidate will provide technical support across the Engineering Department, ensuring that workshop facilities, tools, equipment and materials are prepared, maintained and operated safely to support teaching and learning activities.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing workshop areas, equipment, tools and materials for practical classes.
- Assisting lecturers and students during practical sessions.
- Demonstrating basic engineering techniques under the supervision of teaching staff.
- Promoting and maintaining safe working practices within the workshop environment.
- Monitoring, maintaining and storing tools and equipment.
- Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and workshop regulations.
- Maintaining stock levels and inventory records.
- Assisting with the sourcing, ordering and receipt of engineering materials and equipment.
- Supporting exhibitions, competitions and other departmental activities.
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping throughout workshop areas.
Essential Criteria:
Applicants must possess:
- A Level 3 Engineering Qualification.
- GCSE English Language and Mathematics (Grade A-C or equivalent).
- Practical, hands-on experience within an engineering workshop environment.
- Competence in the use of:
- Welding equipment
- Fabrication machinery
- Metalworking hand tools
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices.
- Experience maintaining workshop equipment and resources.
- Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Access to suitable transport to fulfil the requirements of the role.
