Working Pattern
This role operates on a rotating 12-hour shift pattern:
- 2 day shifts
- 2 night shifts
- 4 consecutive days off
The Role
Key responsibilities will include planned maintenance, machine operation, equipment preparation, fault finding, and ensuring production targets are achieved while maintaining food safety and quality standards.
Duties:
- Support the Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer with operational functions, including machine breakdowns, equipment cover, problem solving, data collection, and machine operation when required.
- Set up production equipment and complete changeovers accurately and efficiently.
- Monitor machinery performance, identifying and addressing potential issues to minimise downtime.
- Carry out duties in accordance with standard operating procedures, ensuring safety, quality, and production targets are consistently achieved.
- Promote a strong health and safety culture by adhering to all company safety standards and procedures.
- Operate production machinery during periods of absence, illness, or increased production demand.
- Investigate equipment faults, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to support continuous improvement.
- Escalate complex or non-routine breakdowns to the Shift Lead where necessary.
- Perform routine planned maintenance activities and preventive maintenance tasks, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately.
- Participate in maintenance projects and improvement initiatives alongside the wider maintenance team.
- Prepare machinery for production and support machine operation across the facility.
- Develop technical knowledge by completing training plans and learning all relevant maintenance duties.
Criteria:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment working to regulatory and customer standards.
- Experience diagnosing and responding to mechanical breakdowns.
- Ability to carry out basic maintenance activities and replace mechanical components.
- Experience setting up and adjusting production equipment while maintaining quality standards.
- Strong communication skills with a proactive, hands-on approach to problem solving.
