The Equality & Inclusion Manager is responsible for
the implementation of the Housing Executive’s Equality Scheme, Disability Action
Plan, Equality Diversity & Inclusion Objectives and development of policies to
further equality of opportunity for Section 75 groups.
About the role:
- Hourly Rate: £23.37 per hour
- Location: Belfast
- Hours of Work: 37 hrs per week, Monday to Friday (candidates will be required to work occasionally outside normal working hours)
- Holidays: 35 days pro rata
- Duration: Temporary, ongoing

Duties include, not limited to:
- To act as day-to-day lead in the implementation of the Housing Executive’s Equality Scheme, Disability Action Plan and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Objectives.
- To develop and maintain systems to keep under review new developments, legislation and policy in the field of equal opportunity and good relations.
- To develop and maintain systems for the screening of policies and equality impact assessment.
- To develop and maintain the Housing Executive's relationship with statutory consultees through the Housing Executive’s Consultative Forum on Equality and associated consultative groups
- To develop and maintain systems for equality monitoring of key Housing Executive services.
Manage and prepare responses to FOI, Subject Access Requests, Assembly Questions and other statutory requests in relation to equality, ensuring the provision of accurate and timely responses.
- Manage and prepare responses to equality related complaints and assist with the management of safeguarding complaints.
- Manage Equality, Diversity and Inclusion projects as appropriate to advance EDI in the organisation.
Criteria:
- Possess either: A degree or equivalent level qualification (Level 6*) and relevant underpinning knowledge and experience demonstrated by continuing professional development which will normally include relevant training and qualifications.
- OR A degree or equivalent level qualification (Level 6*) in a relevant subject matter e.g. Human Resources, Law, Public/Social Policy, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
- Can demonstrate at least 3 years’ experience managing a range of equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives to meet organisational EDI objectives in a large organisation
- Can demonstrate significant relevant experience in at least 3 of the 4 areas below
- Ensuring compliance with equality legislation and S75 of the NI Act 1998
- Evaluation of equality, diversity and inclusion actions and initiatives, maintaining appropriate records and reporting on impact
- Leading consultation, equality screening and equality impact assessments in relation to internal and external policy and practice and engagement with stakeholders
- Development, coordination and delivery of equality, diversity, inclusion training, engagement activity or awareness initiatives
- Provision of advice and guidance to managers and staff regarding equality, diversity and inclusion
- Appropriate access to transport to complete the duties of the role in full.
