Working Hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 8:00am to 5:00pm
- Friday: 8:00am to 12:00pm

About the Role:
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Officer will support the site in maintaining a safe, healthy and environmentally responsible workplace. Reporting to the EHS Director, the successful candidate will play a key role in promoting a positive safety culture, ensuring compliance with environmental and occupational health and safety legislation, and driving continuous improvement across all EHS activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote a proactive safety culture across the business.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement controls.
- Develop and maintain safe systems of work and EHS procedures.
- Carry out inspections and audits to ensure compliance.
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Deliver EHS training, inductions and awareness programmes.
- Monitor and report on EHS performance and trends.
- Maintain EHS records and drive continuous improvement.
- Support environmental compliance, waste management and hazardous substances control.
- Provide guidance on fire safety, COSHH, occupational health and machinery safety.
- Assist with emergency preparedness, drills and response procedures.
- Support ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
- Participate in audits and close out actions effectively.
- Work with contractors and departments to maintain safe working practices.
Criteria:
- NEBOSH Certificate in Health and Safety Management or equivalent qualification.
- Internal EHS Auditor qualification.
- Manual Handling Train the Trainer certification.
- Previous experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working in a regulated or permitted industry.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems and ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems.
- Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to influence, engage and build positive working relationships across all levels of the business.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
