Riada Resourcing the delighted to be working with a leading engineering and fabrication organisation seeking to appoint an experienced Health & Safety Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned HSE professional to join a growing, multi‑site business.
The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping and enhancing the organisation’s safety culture, ensuring compliance across multiple sites, and driving continuous improvement in Health & Safety performance.
The Role:
The Health & Safety Manager will work closely with operational teams, site management, and contractors to implement best practice, support ongoing compliance, and provide expert guidance on all aspects of Health & Safety management. This is a hands‑on, influential position suited to someone who thrives in fast‑paced, technical environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop H&S policies — Create, implement, and continuously improve Health & Safety policies, procedures, and management systems.
- Conduct site inspections — Carry out inspections, audits, and compliance monitoring across manufacturing and construction sites.
- Manage contractor compliance — Support and monitor contractor and subcontractor activities to ensure safe systems of work.
- Lead risk assessments — Develop and review risk assessments, method statements, and control measures.
- Investigate incidents — Lead incident and near‑miss investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
- Ensure compliance with current Health & Safety legislation and industry best practice.
- Prepare monthly HSE reports, dashboards, and safety communications for management.
- Support internal audit programmes and coordinate external audit and ISO accreditation readiness.
- Monitor HSE performance metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Deliver Health & Safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness programmes.
- Provide specialist guidance on COSHH, fire safety, occupational health, machinery safety, and risk management.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through effective engagement with employees, contractors, and stakeholders.
Criteria:
- 4+ years’ experience in a senior Health & Safety role within engineering, manufacturing, construction, or a related sector.
- Strong working knowledge of H&S legislation and compliance requirements.
- Experience conducting inspections, audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
- Proven ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Full UK driving licence.
