Human Resources Advisor - Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council - Antrim
Are you an experienced HR professional and considering a move into the Public Sector? Then this could be the ideal role for you as Riada are working with Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council as they are seek to hire a new HR Advisor.
About the role:
- £16.90 per hour
- Location: Antrim Civic Centre
- Monday to Friday
- Holidays: 37 days pro rata
- Duration: Up to 18 months pending review

What you'll be doing in this role:
- To provide first line advice and support to applicants, employees and managers, where appropriate, on HR queries and enquiries.
- Represent the Human Resources section at departmental operational meetings advising/guiding supervisors answering queries and scheduling
Human Resources activities for that department.
- Undertake projects as allocated by the Human Resources Managers when appropriate gathering relevant information, preparing reports and making recommendations to improve service delivery and promote innovative developments for the section.
- Attend meetings of Managers and individual employees in reviews of sickness or other absences.
- Prepare referrals to Occupational Health.
- Write and review job advertisements, job descriptions and personnel specifications as required. Review all job descriptions before advertising posts which are vacant. Ensure job advertisements are sent to the advertising agent, internet service provider and Training and Employment Agency where appropriate.
What requirements are needed for this role:
- Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) level 3 qualified
- Consideration may be given to applicants who do not hold the above qualification but who can demonstrate using specific examples a minimum to 4 years' experience a willingness to work toward to achieving the qualification
- 2* years’ HR experience in each of the following:
- Providing first line advice and support to applicants, employees and managers on HR matters.
- Experience in recruitment and selection procedures for staff
- Inputting information accurately, production of letters, reports and other documents.
*In the absence of the CIPD qualification 4 years’ experience is required
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and work on own initiative.
- Good level of written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work accurately and at pace.
- Effective interpersonal skills with ability to liaise effectively with all levels of staff and management
- Working knowledge of a wide range of computerised office systems.
- Full current driving licence or, if a disability prevents driving, access to a suitable form of transport to enable the duties of the post to be carried out.
