Housing Advisor - Northern Ireland Housing Executive - Portadown

Join the team at the Northern Ireland Housing Executive in Portadown as a Housing Advisor and play a key role in assessing customers' circumstances and needs, working with relevant internal departments and agencies to provide good quality housing solutions. 
 
About the role: 
  • £16.90 per hour 
  • 37 hours per week
  • Portadown
  • Holidays: 35 days pro rata 
  • Duration: Temporary, ongoing

What you'll be doing in this role:
  • Provide housing advice and assistance to people, who often have complex needs or are facing difficult circumstances, with a focus on preventing homelessness.
  • Undertake comprehensive investigations and make robust legal decisions and fulfil duties under the Housing Order (NI) 1988 (as amended).
  • Arrange emergency accommodation, ensuring that any temporary accommodation that may be required under a full homelessness duty is provided.
  •  Take a case management approach to customer’s need, keeping and maintaining detailed and accurate records of action taken in each case.
  •  Actively seek ways to ensure customers are tenancy ready when appropriate through engagement with other agencies, landlords etc.
What you'll need for this role: 
  • Hold a degree or equivalent and a minimum of 1 years relevant experience in a customer support environment
  •  OR Hold a BTEC Higher Cert/Diploma qualification in Housing and a minimum of 1 years relevant experience in a customer support environment
  •  OR Hold a BTEC Higher Cert/Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years relevant experience in a customer support environment
  •  OR Can demonstrate equivalent continuing professional development or experiential learning and at least 3 years relevant experience in a customer support environment.
  •  Relevant experience in interpreting relevant policy and statutory requirements to make appropriate decisions to meet the needs of customers.
  • Experience working as an effective team member to support the achievement of shared outcomes
  • A full current driving licence and access to a form of transport.
  • Experience working with both internal and external stakeholders to find effective housing solutions.
  • As part of the reference checking and vetting process for this position you will be requested to undertake a Basic AccessNI Disclosure. Having a criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a position.
