Data Analyst - Belfast
 
Join the public sector in Belfast as a Data Analyst and play a key role in turning data into insights to support informed decision-making.
 
In this role you will assist in the provision of costing and benchmarking information to support decision making within the Trust, collating, analysing, interpreting and presenting high quality information, considering the use of new technologies, in particular to improve usability and accessibility of information for non-finance managers.
 
About the role: 
  • £15.88 per hour
  • Monday to Friday (9.00am - 5.00pm or 8.00am - 4.00pm)
  • Knockbracken Clinic, Knockbracken Healthcare Park, Belfast
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Temporary for 6 months with a possible extension
  • Hybrid working option (1 day at home) is available after initial training period
  • Car parking is currently free of charge on the Knockbracken Healthcare Park site where BHSCT Finance is based.

What you'll be doing in this role:
  • Assist with the production of person level costs for both hospital and community sectors, required by the Department of Health/SPPG, working to ensure cost information is accurate, timely, accessible and relevant
  • Support the development of the regional costing system to realise the full potential for the Trust
  • Assist in developing close links with service and Information staff to obtain and develop the activity information required to support costing
  • Provide support to Trust departments in ad hoc costing exercises and projects
  • Liaise with professional managers and other senior staff in the discharge of duties and responsibilities
  • Assist with the analysis and presentation of business intelligence information using a range of communication and data visualisation tools
  • Provide support to managers across the Trust in the use of costing and benchmarking information: to improve quality, understanding and ownership of the information and to progress the productive and efficient use of resources.
What you'll need for this role:
  • 4 years’ experience of extraction, analysis and presentation of a range of data from a complex database/dataset1 using analysis and query tools in a practical work environment
  • Or diploma for Accounting Technicians (ATI) or equivalent (QCF Level 5) with 2 years’  experience of extraction, analysis and presentation of a range of data from a complex database/datases using analysis and query tools in a practical work environment
  • Or a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Data Analytics, Information Technology, or other discipline.
  • Ability to extract data from complex databases/datasets using analysis and query tools 
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and present complex statistical information from a range of systems/sources
  • Be proficient in the use Microsoft Office suite of programmes i.e. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Power Bi, Access, Outlook, Teams
