Mechanical Inspector - Northern Ireland Housing Executive - Ballymena
Join the team at the Northern Ireland Housing Executive in Ballymena as a Mechanical Inspector and play an important role in providing an inspection service on all Natural Gas, Oil, planned and response maintenance contracts.
About the role:
- £16.90 per hour
- Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm
- 37 hours per week
- Holidays: 35 days pro rata
- Duration: Temporary, ongoing

What you will be doing in this role:
- Maintain a daily diary monitoring site activities. Also to present and clearly communicate to the Clerk of Works/Contract Administrator/Project Manager by email all inspection findings including Health and Safety and Welfare in a comprehensive electronic Weekly Report that accurately records and reflects all findings on site.
- Inspect the works at various stages of construction and provide electronic reports on compliance with Executive Specification and Statutory Regulations, as well as workmanship and materials.
- Immediately advise the Contract Administrator/Project Manager of any non-compliance including Health and Safety and Welfare which requires urgent notification, action and attention; with particular reference to any dangerous Health and Safety Welfare breaches on site.
- General measurement of works as and when necessary or requested by Project Manager.
- Keep the Contract Administrator/Project Manager informed by Email, phone with particular reference to any variations from the proposed works, or any aspect of the works that could give rise to a Compensation Event.
- Accompany Clerk of Works/Contract Administrator/Project Manager during the works Handover Process and in a timely and accurate manner complete a Weekly Report and email to Clerk of Works/Contract Administrator/Project Manager for action.
What you'll need for this role:
- Degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in a Building/Construction related discipline plus 1 years’ relevant experience working within a Building/Construction Function.
- OR BTEC Higher or equivalent Level 5 qualification in a Building/Construction related discipline plus 2 years’ relevant experience working within a Building /Construction function.
- OR can demonstrate equivalent continuing professional development/experiential learning and at least 4 years’ relevant experience working within a Building/Construction function.
- Can demonstrate significant experience in Mechanical Installation, Inspection and Testing.
- Hold the following certifications:
Gas Safe: CCN1, OFTEC: 101 NVQ Level 3 Plumbing & Heating or equivalent level 3 qualification in Plumbing or Heating
- Candidates must possess a current driving licence or have access to a form of transport that enables them to meet the requirements of the post in full.
- As part of the reference checking and vetting process for this position you will be requested to undertake a Basic AccessNI Disclosure. Having a criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a position.
