Higher Finance Officer - Ballymena
In this role you will assist over a full range of Financial Management duties, including the development of systems and controls for the effective financial management of the Trust.
About the role:
- £13.57 per hour
- Monday - Friday (9:00am - 5:00pm)
- 37.5 hours a week
- Duration: Immediate start up to 31st May 2026
- Opportunity for hybrid working following the initial induction period

What you'll be doing in this role:
- Assists with the establishment, development and maintenance of an efficient and effective system of budgetary control.
- Responsible for the preparation and input of approved changes to the Trust Budgetary System.
- Assists with the preparation of Financial Management reports by Directorate on the Trust Financial position, including investigating variances.
- Creation and maintenance of budget reports and structures for managers.
- Provision of management information advice and training to budget managers. Liaison in the form of planned meetings for financial review, feedback and development.
- Carry out variance analysis and ad hoc investigations of budget/expenditure as requested by budget managers.
- Responsible for the completion and upkeep of regular payroll and non-pay expenditure adjustments.
- Assist in the identification of funding in relation to vacancies and Organisation Management changes including preparing staffing establishments.
- Undertake any other duties, within the Band as may be required.
What you'll need for this role:
- Demonstrate 3 years’ relevant* finance experience.
- OR Certificate for Accounting Technicians (ATI) or equivalent (QCF Level 4) with 1 year’s relevant* finance experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to prioritise and work within timescales and deadlines.
- Ability to analyse financial information and communicate subsequent evaluation
- Knowledge of structure and function of the Trust.
- Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved by the Trust which will permit them to carry out the duties of the post.
