Hostel Assistant - Northern Ireland Housing Executive - Newtownabbey

This is a great opportunity to join the Northern Ireland Housing Executive as a Hostel Assistant, supporting vulnerable individuals in a frontline housing role. If you have strong customer service skills and enjoy a varied, hands-on position, we want to hear from you.
 
About the role: 
  • £13.26 per hour
  • Hillview Hostel, Newtownabbey
  •  Monday - Friday
  • 37 hours per week, 
  • Holidays: 35 days pro rata
  • Duration: Temporary, ongoing

What you'll be doing in this role: 
  • Support new residents with registration and advice on relevant particulars
  • Assist in hostel maintenance, including cleaning duties and identifying and reporting repairs needed
  • Liaising with the housing advisors to help address resident's support needs
  • Other duties when required including health and safety checks
What you'll need for this role: 
  • Hold a BTEC National Certificate or equivalent Professional or Technical qualification* (Level 3) plus at least one year’s relevant customer service or general administrative experience
  • OR Have five GCSEs* (Level 2), or equivalent qualification, plus at least two years’ relevant customer service or general administrative experience
  • OR Can demonstrate three years’ experience in a customer advisor role and can demonstrate ongoing learning through completion of relevant courses and/or through relevant supported work place or on-the-job training
  • Experience of direct delivery of relevant customer service to the public via telephone or face to face
  • Experience in dealing appropriately with customers in a challenging environment 
  • Must have access to a car
  •  As part of the reference checking and vetting process for this position you will be requested to undertake a Basic AccessNI Disclosure. Having a criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a position
