Structural Steel Estimator - Magherafelt - Permanent
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Structural Steel Estimator to join our team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for structural steel projects based on engineering drawings, specifications, and other bid documents. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of steel fabrication, erection, and related construction practices.
About this role:
- £50,000 - £60,000 per annum
- Monday to Friday
- Permanent role
What you'll be doing in this role:
- Analyse architectural and structural drawings and specifications to determine project scope.
- Quantify material take-offs for structural steel components, including beams, columns, bracing, decking, and connections.
- Solicit and evaluate bids from suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Prepare and submit complete cost estimates, including labour, material, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs.
- Develop project schedules and assist with value engineering options to improve cost efficiency.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client meetings as necessary.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and fabricators during pre-construction and project turnover.
- Maintain organized records of historical estimates and project costs for future reference.
- Stay current on market pricing, steel trends, and construction practices.
What you'll need for this role:
- Minimum 3–5 years in estimating structural steel or a related field (fabrication, erection, or construction estimating).
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred. Equivalent work experience considered.
- Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., FabTrol, Tekla EPM, Bluebeam, AutoCAD).
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings.
- Familiarity with AISC codes, steel fabrication methods, and construction practices.
- Understanding of welding, bolting, and connection detailing.
