Practitioner – Patient and Client Council - Belfast, Ballymena, Lurgan or Omagh
This is a rewarding opportunity to be at the heart of improving public health services in Northern Ireland. As a Band 5 Practitioner, you will support individuals and communities to have their voices heard within the Health and Social Care (HSC) system. You’ll play a vital role in shaping services by promoting public involvement and advocating for meaningful change.
About the role:
- £15.33 per hour
- Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
- Public sector
- Temporary until 31 March 2026
What you’ll be doing in this role:
- Deliver 1:1 support, advocacy, and guidance to individuals using HSC services.
- Assist people in expressing concerns or complaints and provide advice by phone or in person.
- Facilitate group sessions and engagement events to gather public feedback on health and social care.
- Work across PCC platforms, including Citizen Hubs and Engagement Platforms.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to design and deliver engagement initiatives and projects.
- Maintain accurate records through PCC’s client management systems.
- Support individuals through early resolution, signposting, and longer-term casework.
- Represent public interests in discussions with HSC providers to drive service improvement.
What you’ll need for this role:
- Proven experience in advocacy, support, health and social care, or community engagement.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to empathise and build rapport.
- Experience delivering presentations and facilitating discussions.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office and managing case-related information.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider regional team.
- Flexibility to travel across Northern Ireland as required.
- Experience working with vulnerable individuals and understanding of safeguarding principles is desirable.
- Knowledge of current healthcare issues and public sector policy in Northern Ireland.
