About the role:
- Hourly Rate: £12.80 per hour *plus additional call out rate and standby allowance as required
- Location: Belfast
- Hours of Work: 37 hrs per week, Monday to Thursday 8.30 am – 4.30 pm & Friday 8.30 am – 4.00 pm
- Holidays: 35 days pro rata
- Duration: Temporary, ongoing

Duties:
- Carpentry & Maintenance: Install and repair kitchens, doors, windows, flooring, fencing, bath panels, roofing, guttering, and plasterboard.
- Customer Service: Maintain positive tenant relationships, especially with vulnerable tenants, arrange access, and ensure job satisfaction.
- Performance & Reporting: Complete job records promptly using digital tools, strive for efficiency, and suggest process improvements.
- Health & Safety: Follow all safety protocols, handle tools and chemicals per COSHH standards, use PPE, report incidents, and attend safety training.
- General Duties: Ensure high-quality work, collaborate with staff and subcontractors, mentor apprentices, and maintain NIHE’s reputation and standards. Attend training and adapt to duties as required.
- Additional Responsibilities: Emergency call-out duties may be required on a rota basis.
- Training may be provided for works required outside of trade as appropriate to business need.
Criteria:
- Completed either time served or skills apprenticeship in joinery.
- At least 1 years’ post apprenticeship experience working as a joiner on improvement or maintenance of properties.
- Full current driving licence or access to a form of transport.
- Flexible to provide an emergency call out service on evenings and weekends - rota basis.
- As part of the reference checking and vetting process for this position you will be requested to undertake a Basic AccessNI Disclosure. Having a criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a position.
