Business and Community Support Officer - Mid and East Antrim Council - Public Sector
About the role:
- Rate of pay: £17.59 ph
- Hours of Work: part time hours, 3 days per week (to be agreed)
- Duration of post: 31st March 2025 with a possible extension
- Location: TBC

Duties:
- Be a member of the team responsible for supporting behaviour change and the achievement of positive outcomes in both public protection (licensing) and wellbeing issues across the borough.
- Work in partnership with key stakeholders and other service providers within the business, community and voluntary sector to contribute to the achievement of Council’s vision for a growing and sustainable borough.
- Deliver health & wellbeing programmes, campaigns and initiatives within the borough and assist in the regulation of a wide range activities including public entertainment, street trading including pavement cafes, cinemas, caravan sites, road closures etc.
Criteria:
- Applicants must have a minimum of a third level qualification
2 years’ experience to include one in either of the following areas:-
- Wellbeing
- Physical and /or mental health and wellbeing
- Home/Fire safety
- Energy efficiency
- Fuel poverty
- Public Protection
- Regulatory experience or similar type role eg building control, fire safety, dog control, environmental health
- Use of Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Outlook and Powerpoint).
- A full current driving licence valid in the UK and access to a vehicle OR have access to a form of transport
- Knowledge and understanding of legal / court procedures for dealing with licence applications, prosecutions, appeals, reviews etc.
A minimum of two of the following, or equivalent:
- City and Guilds level 3 Award in Energy Awareness or equivalent
- ROSPA An introduction to Home Safety
- ROSPA Older People Safety in the home
- ROSPA Child Safety in the Home
- ROSPA Choosing and Using Home Safety Equipment
- Level 2 Award in Fire Risk Assessment
