Mechanical Technician - Derry City - Permanent 
  • Position: Mechanical Technician
  • Location: Derry City
  • Salary: £30k to £35k (DOE) + attractive benefits package

Riada Resourcing is recruiting on behalf of a leading advanced manufacturing company for a Mechanical Technician to join its Engineering and Assembly team. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the role involves installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving mechanical systems and production equipment in a fast-paced technical environment.

With over 25 years' experience in industrial automation, the company delivers bespoke machine-build, robotics, and automation solutions to customers worldwide.

Hours & Working Environment: 

  • 7.45am – 5.45pm, Monday to Thursday (38 hours per week)
  • On‑site role with occasional travel to customer sites (driving licence preferred)

The Mechanical Technician plays a key role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and safety of mechanical and production systems. This includes installation, maintenance, diagnostics, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Carry out maintenance, fault finding, and repairs on mechanical equipment and production systems
  • Install, commission, and modify machinery and automation systems
  • Build, test, and troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and automation components
  • Work closely with engineering, automation, and electrical teams to resolve technical issues
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance
  • Maintain accurate records and provide technical support to meet production targets
  • Liaise with customers and ensure effective communication throughout projects
  • Follow all health & safety and quality procedures

Essential Criteria: 

  • Recognised engineering qualification at Level 3 or above
  • Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude and problem‑solving ability
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
  • Experience with precision tools, alignment, and calibration
  • Transferable skills from a previous multi‑skilled role
  • Proven experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical/pneumatic systems
  • Ability to learn quickly in a fast‑moving environment
  • Competence with general computer applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
