Assistant DEA Officer - Mid and East Antrim Borough Council - Ballymena
We're looking for a passionate and motivated individual to help deliver “Putting People First” — Mid and East Antrim’s Community Plan — through a place-based District Electoral Area (DEA) approach. As a DEA Officer, you’ll work as part of a collaborative team focused on strengthening community partnerships and delivering meaningful outcomes across key service areas including Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP), Good Relations, Community Planning, Community Development, and Community Services.
This dynamic role offers the opportunity to make a real impact at the local level, working closely with statutory bodies, community organisations, and local residents to shape services that reflect the needs of the Borough.

Duties
- Work as part of a team responsible for the implementation of “Putting People First”, Mid and East Antrim’s Community Plan, delivered through a District Electoral Area (DEA) approach. The role will include input into delivery relating to the following service areas:
- PCSP
- Good Relations
- Community Planning
- Community Development (including Neighbourhood Renewal & Areas at Risk)
- Community Services (including Community Centre Management)
It will be a requirement that the seven DEA Officers will work collaboratively to deliver complementary work plans across the functions, services and DEAs, working towards delivery of the outcomes of the community, corporate and local cluster action plans.
Criteria:
- A sound understanding of the legislative framework governing the work of the Department, specifically including responsibilities in at least one of the following areas: Community Planning / GR / PCSP / Development / Community Services function.
- Practical understanding of the main issues and developments impacting on service delivery within the service portfolio within the Borough.
- A sound understanding of the workings of Local Government and the wider environment and political context in which it operates.
- A full current driving licence valid in the UK and access to a vehicle OR have access to a form of transport that enables you to carry out the duties of the post
