Laboratory Site Quality Manager - Belfast - NI Water
An excellent opportunity has arisen to join NI Water in Belfast as a Laboratory Site Quality Manager, overseeing quality management systems within a regulated laboratory environment. This role will be responsible for ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, maintaining robust quality processes, and supporting continuous improvement across laboratory operations.
The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting quality assurance, driving best practice, and ensuring laboratory activities meet required regulatory, technical, and organisational standards.
About the role:
- £16.50 per hour
- Westland House, Belfast
- 37 hours per week, (will be required to work flexible hours, work standby/on-call, weekends
& bank holidays to accommodate site operations and urgent quality issues)
- Holidays: 35 days pro rata
- Temporary, until 30th June 2026
- Free parking on site

What you'll be doing in this role:
- Develop, implement, and maintain a robust Quality Management System aligned with relevant regulatory requirements and ISO 17025 standard
- Interpret and adapt to changing regulatory requirements, industry standards and organisational priorities.
- Pre-plan and collate laboratory audit schedule’s up to 2 years in advance.
- Conduct, monitor and evaluate routine audits on laboratory methods, staff and quality system documentation to assess compliance with quality specifications and standards.
- Establish and maintain comprehensive documentation and records related to quality management activities, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), validation protocols, and test results to ensure documentation integrity, accuracy, and traceability in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the update and reissuance of quality policies, procedures, and documentation to ensure compliance and a fully traceable audit trail within the laboratory.
What you'll need for this role:
- A third level qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) in a relevant scientific discipline; AND 12 months’ practical analytical experience working in an ISO17025 accredited laboratory or a laboratory operating an equivalent Quality Management System.
- Knowledge & understanding of water industry chemical & microbiological analysis.
- Working knowledge of Drinking Water & Waste Water Regulatory Compliance.
- Demonstrable experience of effectively managing stakeholder relationships such as regulatory bodies and external customers and suppliers.
- Membership of or working towards membership of a relevant professional body eg. Royal Society of Chemistry or Institute of Water.
- Demonstrable experience of proficiency in using Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- A full current driving licence and access to a form of transport, the post holder will be required to travel to other NIW sites;
